“Homo sapiens — Sentinel

On this grassland facing the ocean, a nameless figure stands in silence.

His feet are firmly rooted in the earth, a long staff in his hand, eyes fixed on the distant horizon.

He is not a god, nor a hero, but a Homo sapiens — a being at the threshold between civilization and nature,

keeping watch over this land,

and over the origins we have long forgotten.

The initial inspiration for this work stems from a simple yet profound belief:

We are a part of nature.

As we walk barefoot across the grassland and feel the wind, the soil, and the light,

our bodies remember —

we come from this place, and have never truly left.

“Homo sapiens — Sentinel” is not merely a sculpture;

it is a question, a quiet challenge:

In a world rushing forward,

do we still remember how to live in harmony with nature?

Are we still willing to stand guard for the land that raised us?

The figure faces not only the landscape,

but also the convergence of **history, memory, and the future**.

Standing on this land in silent vigilance,

he calls on each passerby to reflect:

Our relationship with nature was never about possession, but connection.

Thank you for coming close.

May you, too,

stand quietly with this watchful figure,

between the grass and the sea breeze,

and rediscover the link that has always bound us to nature.

This work invites you to remove your shoes and walk barefoot on the grass,

to feel the softness and the roughness of the earth beneath your feet,

and the movement of the wind upon your skin.

The staff held in the figure’s hand is not a weapon,

but a tool for walking — an extension of the hand, a dialogue with the land.
